...ABOUT ALABOUT ALLISON...LISON LEFCORT

Allison Lefcort has painted since early childhood. She was first represented professionally by the Greenwich Village Art Gallery in New York City when she was seventeen.  She has become widely collected and recognized for her own style of portrait painting.

Allison has shown her work in fine galleries around the country. Her portraits have hung side by side with such esteemed artists as Peter Max and Romero Britto. Her paintings have been purchased and shipped around the world to places like Monte Carlo, Singapore, Germany, Hong Kong, Bangkok, Luxembourg, Jerusalem, Paris, and London.

She has exhibited her paintings in the reception areas of both MTV and VH1 in the Viacom Building in Manhattan! At the same time, she had original art at Warner Bros Studio Stores and The Disney Store also in Manhattan! It's been a thrill for Allison to see Disney merchandise with her name on it! Tee shirts, bags, cards, posters and the like bear the words "The Art of Allison Lefcort" across the front!

Allison has participated as a guest artist at several Disneyana Conventions in Orlando and Anaheim. She was on hand to see her original portrait of Captain Hook sold at the live auction, and she was excited to meet the many collectors who purchased limited edition lithographs of her portrait of The Evil Queen from Snow White.  Allison participated in a signing event for the limited editions of her first portrait of Tinkerbell at Disneyland.

Allison was invited to paint a portrait of then First Lady of the United States, Hillary Rodham Clinton. Mrs. Clinton came to Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton in 1996 to speak at the "When Women Vote, Women Win in Florida" rally in conjunction with the Women's Leadership Forum of the Democratic National Committee and the Florida Coordinated Campaign. Allison had the privilege of presenting this portrait to the First Lady at a private function after the rally. That portrait was later sent to the White House and filling out that prestigious address on a shipping label was an experience in itself for the young artist!

She was also invited to paint portraits of their Royal Highnesses the King and Queen of Jordan. King Hussein, accompanied by Queen Noor, was the honored speaker at the Seeds of Peace annual dinner in New York at the Rainbow Room. Allison had the opportunity to watch the king deliver his speech standing in front of her large portrait of him. That same portrait of the late King Hussein was featured in an interview with Queen Noor conducted by Katie Couric on the Today Show!

Allison has been a strong supporter of such charitable organizations as Best Buddies, MusiCares of The National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences, Muzak Heart & Soul Foundation, Seeds of Peace, The Chris Evert Tennis Classic, United Cerebral Palsy, GLAAD, The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Johns Hopkins Pancreatic Cancer Reasearch Foundation, CancerLink, and Gilda's Club of South Florida. She looks forward to new opportunities to make a difference!

MusiCares is the charitable arm of The National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences, the organization responsible for the Grammy Awards. Allison painted all nine recipients of the Humanitarian Award for MusiCares and those portraits of Natalie Cole, Luciano Pavarotti, Tony Bennett, Gloria Estefan, Quincy Jones, Bonnie Raitt, David Crosby, Phil Collins, and Stevie Wonder hang in the MusiCares offices in the NARAS building in Los Angeles alongside paintings by Peter Max.

In her own words, Allison explains her fascination with celebrity. "My art is inspired by the works of Andy Warhol and Keith Haring. Boldness and simplicity are the keys to the success of my portraits. The vibrant color of the background accents the shapes and shadows and enhances the three-dimensional appearance. I have always been a star-gazer. These paintings are my homage to the celebrities depicted."

Among her many collectors, Allison can include Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton, Her Royal Highness Queen Noor of Jordan, Barbra Streisand, Romero Britto, Phil Ramone, Luciano Pavarotti, Liza Minelli, Dionne Warwick, John Stango, Universal Studios Orlando, Warner Bros. Studio Stores, The Walt Disney Gallery, Tears For Fears, The Indigo Girls, Ellen DeGeneres, Kathy Buckley, Deborah Gibson, Robert Cuccioli, and Lea Delaria.
